Mimi's Milk

Mimi loves her some milk.  In fact, she probably drinks twice as much as the recommended amount for a baby her age.  She isn't really interested in food.  She will eat a few things but give her a bottle of milk and you will make her today.  Yesterday though, she upped the obvious milk obsession.  Multiple times she just stood in the kitchen screaming and I couldn't figure out why.  Well it took a little while but I figured it out.  She was standing by the fridge and she wanted milk.  Yes, that is right.  She now stands next to the fridge when she wants some milk and cries until you get it for her.  Ohh, the joys of breaking this habit are going to be great, I can tell!

The one other thing she will go for though is sweets. If you can get her to try something sweet she will love it. Here she is with a whole sugar cookie.  She had no problem with that.

And the incredibly challenging sell of a donut courtesy of daddy.  She gets so excited when it is a sweet.  It is actually really cute.  Hard not to want to give her the sweets so you can see her so excited, but really cute.

She also loves ice cream, especially chocolate.  Must be because it is made out of milk and sweet.  : )

Kids Say the Darndest Things

Here is a new portion I hope to start.  I have been meaning to do it for awhile but just haven't gotten the opportunity yet.  However, Bumpkin gave me a little push tonight.  I have been hoping to get all those funny things that the kids say written down.  Grandma says she has a bunch of them saved on her phone, plus I know that I have put some on facebook from time to time, so I am going to try to go back and get them on here.  Tonights was as follows.

We were watching the news and it ended and Sunday night football came on.  Bumpkin started boo-ing when the Redskins highlights were shown.

Me- Bumpkin don't cheer against the Redskins unless they are playing the Steelers.  It makes daddy sad when the Redskins lose.

Bumpkin- Yeah, he gets a crank in his pants when they lose.

Couples Retreat

A couple weekends ago we went on a couples retreat through the military.  We didn't really know what to expect but they provided the hotel, food, and childcare so we figured it was worth the experience!  Daddy and I learned a lot and the kids actually had a good time.  There were plenty of breaks where we got to hang with the kids but the military hired a nanny service with some great girls.  I'm not sure the kids even wanted us to have breaks!  They still talk about the nannies!  I was a little concerned about leaving Mimi but she did well and the one time they really needed me they came and got me.  It was a good enough experience I would do it again!

Here is a picture of the first night when we were still hestitant about leaving Mimi.  Daddy snuck down and got a picture of her so I would be at ease.  We can't see her very well but you can see that she has the attention of multiple nannies.

There was a festival going on outside the hotel too so that was pretty fun.  It was a street performer festival so it was weird, unusual things.  Very interesting.  I didn't get any picture of the festival but I here are the girls walking back to the hotel.  I love how much they love each other!

Troublemaker Goes to Preschool

Troublemaker started preschool yesterday.  We have been anxiously waiting and it finally came.  I wasn't sure how it would turn out as she has gone back and forth about wanting to go or wanting to stay with momma but it went very well!  She was a little nervous when she kissed me goodbye but there wasn't any screaming or begging me to stay.  I think it helped that her teacher sent a letter a couple days beforehand asking everyone to bring their favorite stuffed animal.  Not surprisingly she took Baby Pig.

She also has a friend from the neighborhood who goes to the preschool so that helped too.

I am so glad she had a good time.  We made a deal that she only had to go the first week and if she didn't like it I would think about not making her go back.  I was praying she would like it but was prepared to make her continue to go.  :)  She is such a mommy's girl!  I love her for it but sometimes it makes it challenging.  It was surprisingly hard to convince her to skip naptime with mommy to go play with friends at preschool!  She came home her first day smiling ear to ear though and talked about what they were planning on doing tomorrow.  It was then that I knew I won!

Labor Day Weekend Fun

This past weekend was Labor Day Weekend.  We had no plans at all and it was absolutely wonderful!  Especially when I start to think about all the weekends we have plans from here on out.  It was great to just hang out as a family and enjoy each others company.

One of the main things that entertained us this weekend were the new nerf guns that daddy bought.  Last Wednesday we went to daddy's work to visit him and have dinner.  After dinner we were watching TV in the entertainment room when one of daddy's coworkers started shooting the girls with his nerf gun.  They thought it was the greatest thing ever and were not too happy about leaving.  The next day daddy went out and bought a nerf gun for each of us.  Since then we have had a number of wars, teams, and games.  I think we might be getting a little too much pleasure out of shooting each other!

We also got the trampoline back up!  Daddy finished the fence so we are hopeful the trampoline won't blow away again.  We also took a couple creative precautions so lets keep our fingers crossed.  It is so great to have it back and Mimi loves it.  The other day Bumpkin and Troublemaker were out there jumping and Mimi was inside with me.  She could here them and was literally screaming at them through the door.  I felt so bad I caved and took her out to join them.  She is still too little to be on there while they jump but it is hard to explain that to her.  Her big sisters think it is fun to let her enjoy herself on the trampoline but they don't want her to do it long because they aren't allowed to move.  She tries so hard to jump though, it is super cute!

Daddy's Little Helper

Troublemaker,

You have always been good with your hand and interested in helping put things together.  I can remember when you were two and I was trying to put together a craft item that needed screws and you were helping me use the screwdriver.  I was so impressed that you actually knew how to do it at such a young age.  So it was no surprise to me when you were interested in helping daddy build the fence.  Super cute, but no surprise.  You actually choose to go out there and carry wood for him and hand him tools.  Here you are carrying a piece of wood much bigger than you!

Very impressive!  It is amazing to see what gifts God has given you and imagine what is to come.

Love you little lady!

Mimi's 1st birthday!

I can't believe it Mimi but you are a year old already.  I have heard it for years but it wasn't until I was a parent I realized its true meaning; time really does fly.  And it seems like it gets quick and quicker the older I get.  In just a few short months you have gone from my sweet sleeping baby to walking at 10 months and choosing a bottle over most foods but loving sweets.  You have learned how to throw temper tantrums when I take away toys and loving being around your sisters.  You are a sweet baby girl with dimples on both cheeks and pigtails in your hair.

Your birthday party was ladybug themed.  We invited all your baby friends and their families.  But first we had to get ready for your party.  And in true mommy fashion I wanted until the last minute to start getting ready but didn't want to take anything off the agenda.  So in swopped Nana and Aunt H.  We stayed up much later then we should but the food was delish and cute!  While I focused on the cake, Nana helped me make the ladybug pretzels and toad stolls and Aunt H worked on some of the decorations.  Yes it did take much longer to make the ladybug pretzels then it took to eat then.  And yes it was fun to watch Nana wrestle with the marshmellows for the toad stolls.  Troublemaker had decided to punch their bag so they were all stuck together.  :)

The next morning we got up, finished the cake, decorated, and waited for the guests.

Here is what the dessert table looked like.

The birthday girl waking from her nap to find all her guest.

The big kids went downstairs on the craft table and decorated their goodie bags.

The birthday girl finally woke up so we started the party with treat and games.

Then it was cake time!  I purposely didn't do anything fancy to Mimi's smash cake because of her food issues.  I knew there was no chance of her smashing into it if I did too much so it was just cake and icing. She was actually a little scared and confused while we sang to her.
