Mickey Mouse Cake

I made matching Mickey and Minnie Mouse cakes for a friends daughters recently. I should have gotten a picture of them next to each other but I was quite frankly tired of taking them in and out of the fridge. :) Since they were identical I would do one step on both cakes before moving on. It meant a lot of trips to my cake fridge. But here they are individually.

(Semi) recent cakes

Here are pictures of the cakes I have made recently. Also, the Avengers cake I made lake last year with the figurines on it. The cakes included are Troublemakers 5th bday cake (she didn't want much bc she doesn't really like cake so I surprised her with a paint themed inside), a friends 30th bday cake, and a Hawaiian Luau themed cake.

Bumpkin's 6th Birthday Celebration

Bumpkin's birthday celebration was tons of work but tons of fun too.  We have about 25 kids and a lot of their parents so the house was packed but everyone seemed to have a good time.  We started with games; throwing the pumpkin ball into the pumpkin mouth and searching for eyeballs in the livingroom.  Then we moved on to presents followed by food and cake.  And finally, we went downstairs for the "Haunted Ship". I think the pictures are pretty self-explanatory.

Angry Birds Cake

I made this cake right before I went to convention.  I had actually been wanting to make an Angry Bird cake for awhile so I was so excited!  To be honest, I wanted it bigger, grander, with a lifesize contraption but this is what the mom of the birthday boy wanted.  In the end that was fine with me.  It took a lot to get the cake done, get everything set up to leave for convention, and actually pack.  It turned out super cute and I got a lesson in dialing down my cake-ful imagination.

Surprise 30th birthday party

I good friend of mine, Lara, had a 30th birthday party coming up and we planned a surprise party for her.  She originally had plans to do either Vegas or Chicago for her birthday but a surprise pregnancy changed her plans.  So we had her party at a local art studio where you pay to have a teacher show you how to paint a picture.  I wasn't really sold but I am so glad we did it.  It was much more fun then I thought it would be.  I would even do it again.  The studio had a kitchen area so we could bring snacks and drinks.

After we surprised the birthday girl (which wasn't much of a surprise due to the typical inability for husbands to not be obvious) and ate our first round of snacks, we got down to painting.  That is the birthday girl in front of me.

It was cool to see how easy it is to paint a beautiful picture.  Here is my finished project and then the groups finished projects.
